A strong base of

Power Plants

Producing affordable power to fuel our growth.

Still the backbone of our electric production, coal-fired power plants are the workhorses of the fleet. In 2022 WVPA’s exposure to coal is down to 35%, the lowest in the region. We’ve also embraced natural gas; expected to become the primary fuel source for electric production over the next two decades, natural gas is gaining in use because it is clean burning while still producing relatively inexpensive electricity.
