Q2 2025 Economic Development Wrap-up

View All News

A flurry of economic development activity launched our member cooperatives and their communities into the spring. Our member co-op communities across the Midwest continued to receive interest from potential businesses looking to grow or relocate to the region. They received continued economic momentum to start 2025, which swiftly continued into the second quarter.

Project Leads by State:

Our member co-ops received 20 leads in Q2. The location interest varied; several leads sought details about sites in Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri; though most projects were specifically interested in Indiana.

You can see more about the interest each state received below. By analyzing the patterns and trends behind these leads, businesses and stakeholders can make strategic decisions that maximize long-term success.

  • 11 leads solely interested in Indiana
  • 1 lead solely interested in Illinois
  • 3 leads solely interested in Missouri
  • 2 leads interested in Indiana and Illinois
  • 2 leads interested in Missouri, Indiana, and Illinois
  • 20 total leads submitted in the second quarter

Projects Leads by Industry:

Communities served by our member co-ops received 14 manufacturing industry leads in the first quarter, which continues a trend of strong interest from the sector. We also submitted leads to warehousing, logistics, and agriculture this second quarter. We are eager to see how the trends develop over the rest of 2025.

Acreage Requirements

Project leads varied significantly based on the acreage requirements, reflecting diverse types of developments and their spatial needs. Most second quarter projects (11) featured an unknown acreage size. Yet we saw requests feature even large sites, with some wanting more than 50 acres. You can see more in the breakdown.

Building Size

With knowledge of the anticipated building size, we can get a better idea about the nature and scope of proposed projects. In the second quarter, we received many projects with unknown building sizes. Of the projects featuring that information, most were for buildings between 50,000 and 100,000 square feet. Yet we also received requests for many different sizes, reflecting the diverse interest in our member co-ops’ communities.

We are strongly encouraged by the momentum our member co-ops have received so far in 2025. These numbers highlight Indiana as the leading area of interest this quarter, with promising engagement across neighboring states and sectors. We continue to work with projects to answer questions and provide support to ensure that they know that our communities are a great place to invest and do business!
