Efficiency through Education
While scientists believe that they've seen evidence of planets similar to ours in the universe, no one has yet to discover another plant Earth. This means humans have only one opportunity to treat the world the right way. Our efficiency efforts focus on educating consumers in making better use of the electricity they buy. Because decreased energy use also translates into lower energy bills, becoming more efficient is good for everyone.
ENERGY ADVISOR PROGRAM
Through the Energy Advisor program, designated staff members at nearly all of Wabash Valley Power's member cooperatives receive special training to deepen their knowledge of electricity and energy matters. Energy Advisors will respond to member questions and concerns by helping them identify ways to use energy more efficiently while making their homes more comfortable. With the primary message, "Advice when you want it. Help when you need it," the program restores the co-op to the education role widely used decades ago. PARTICIPATION IN EVENTS
Wabash Valley Power staff and representatives of its member systems frequently participate in events such as Earth Day, state fairs and other opportunities to educate consumers about energy use. By using hands-on displays, WVPA makes complex matters more understandable to everyday people.
