Converting Waste to Fuel
The Wabash Valley Power subsidiary sgSolutions™ in West Terre Haute, Indiana operates a coal gasification plant that has been the subject of international attention. The plant receives a material called petroleum coke, a waste product from the oil refining process, and transforms it into synthetic natural gas. The gas is piped to the adjacent Wabash River Power Station, where it is burned to generate electricity in an extremely efficient and environmentally friendly combined-cycle process.
Wabash Valley Power also operates plants that turn landfill gases and animal waste into electricity. To learn more about these processes, click here
